Welcome, everyone! I need to get to bed soon, but if you want to get started on your character sheets, feel free to do that. Here's the basic info:

Use the 27-point buy method for determining your Ability Scores. Don't roll for starting gold but take the equipment provided by your Class and Background. And feel free to sell (at full price) anything you don't want.

We'll discuss the Strixhaven-specific material/rules later.

Be sure to let me know--either here or in private messages--if you have any questions.

Hi, all! I'll be playing a human cleric. I'll get to my sheet soon.

I didn't get around to posting here last night, and I'll most likely be too busy to do much today/tonight, but expect more from me later in the week.

In the meantime, when you have a draft of your character sheet done, send me a PM, and I'll look it over. We'll add the Strixhaven-specific stuff, like extracurriculars, relationships, etc., a little bit later, so don't worry about those yet. And feel free to use whatever character sheet you prefer, as long as it is complete and easy to read.

I am a human druid. I've played a lot of ttrpg's including more hours than I'd like to think about of 3.5 and earlier d&d, and been on rpol for years but this is my first venture into 5e. So if I am doing anything that is incorrect for this edition, please let me know.

We have a bard, an artificer and an arcane trickster as well as a druid and cleric depending on what you mean by mage.

And a warlock!

Well not a arcane trickers for another 3 levels.

I don't really view artificer as a 'mage'. They are pretty limited and only a half-caster.

We're pretty strong magic-wise either way! Mean like a wizard or a sorcerer.

I'm likely a dirty dirty optimizer but yeah, probably gonna put some wizard on this artificer, if it assuages any fears you have.

Its all good. Just noticed is all.

I can switch to Wizard or Sorcerer I just figured that since I'm running off online sources for mechanics that it would be easier to go with a Druid.

Main thing I'm struggling to decide on are what spells I want. Anyone else the same?

The problem with me is fitting to a theme . . .

At least with warlock there's some "no-brainer" answers if you want to go for tried and true. Eldritch Blast or if you're cheeky/rebellious Fire Bolt

My issue with Eldritch Blast is it feels boring, and forces a build too much.

With being from an Archfey Patron, going for more of a controlling effect spell wise feels more interesting.
I'm getting Sacred Flame and Vicious Mockery from Silverquill Initiate, so I have combat cantrips.

I'd sooner do Hex than Eldritch Blast if it was either/or, agreed on it limiting.

Perhaps Minor Illusion can be fun, and Unseen Servant is always a treat especially if one is Silverquill-ing, sort of a proto-inkling

Strixhaven Initiate is neat. I can start with a familiar depending on which one I pick.

Try to finish up your sheets ASAP. I'll post more this weekend, and hopefully, we can get started early next week.

How does it help you start with a familiar?

All of them except Silverquill allow you to learn a wizard spell of 1st level. Find Familiar and 10gp later ...

I would like to use the rules for Relationships, as these were requested in the Wanted-GMs thread that asked for this game. If you don't want to use them, let me know--they are optional.

Be sure to choose two Extracurriculars OR one Extracurricular and a Job, and list these and their associated benefits on your sheet somewhere.

I'm happy to share/discuss here what ones I'm interested in, in case anyone else wants to be in the same jobs/classes?

Well, I was hoping discussions would happen about classes/jobs people would want to take, but as that hasn't, I'll put in here what I am thinking.

I feel Gunni would go for extracurricular options over getting a job, as he is doing ok money wise, and 5gp a week isn't much.

I'm thinking a class that helps bring up something I'm bad/untrained at, and one to help where I'm strong at.

Dragonsguard Historical Society brings up a pair on Intelligence skills, and I feel Arcana is the type of thing that could come up in Strixhaven, so improving my chances of passing it could be handy.

Future Entrepreneurs of Strixhaven is appealing both for the skills, but also the flavour of it. Why work a job, when you can start a business?!

If you don't have access to the list of Jobs available, take two Extracurriculars.

Regarding classes, you will all be enrolled in a required course: Magical Physiologies. Additionally, choose three additional first-year courses from the list below:

• Basic Magical Auras (General Studies)
• Beginning Computational Magic (Quandrix)
• Beginning Inkomancy (Silverquill)

I imagine Lorisa either is going for the Iron Lifters or the Intramural Silkball Club, possibly both in lieu of a job? Though erasing graffiti at the Biblioplex sounds pretty fun for a job.

For now, Iron Lifters Society and Biblioplex job doing cleanup and getting rid of graffiti.

The magic player in me says Lorisa does poorly at Arcano-botany and Computational Magic, so courses:

Going to go do an extracurricular at the Strixhaven Star, tempting as the Horticultural Society is. The chance to contribute with recipes and to rub shoulders with the hoighty-toighty Silverquills is very tempting.

For a job, like Gunni I'm not exactly hurting on gold, but I can't pass up the chance to cook. Bow's End Tavern cook, seems the best option of the available, as apprenticing under Gyome himself might be too lofty a goal for a lowly first year (aspirations!)

Well crap. I've never played M:tG. I'm going to be going into this SO blind!

Could make for some interesting IC reflections then, feeling lost, overwhelmed, and forced to make friends to know WTF is going on ;)

Knowledge of Magic: The Gathering and the Strixhaven setting is not necessary. Characters come from all over the multiverse to attend the university.

Everyone's selections sound good so far. Be sure to include them at the bottom of your character sheet if you haven't already.

I'm planning to get the story underway on Monday, so please finish up this weekend.

I need to make a couple small tweaks to my sheet before we begin. I'll get that info added when I do that.

Hello everyone, I'll be joining as Akili soon. Looking forward to playing with you all!

To get an idea of the flow of the game: what is the expected post rate? Once per day? Every two days? Once a week? I fear that if it's too slow, it'll stagnate and die like most games in Rpol. We already have a player that hasn't logged on for 4 days.

Depends where they are in the world - I'm in the UK, and it's a bank holiday today, so they could be having a long weekend, using RPOl as something they do whilst at work.

I think I average about three posts per week. As long as players check in roughly every other day, and post if needed at those times, we should keep moving fine.
