Exalted 3ed, initiative and Pbp
It's almost never a good idea to make players go in the order of their initiatives with regards to each other. If the game makes individual initiative a big deal, then rolling it that way can still work. Take an example case:
12 Player A
11 Player B
10 NPC X
09 Player C
07 NPC Y
06 Player D
Strictly speaking, player A should post, then player B. However, my experience is that allowing Players A and B to go in the order they post is much better. In essence, only break things up with the NPCs.
So, in the above case, you'd have player A & B, then NPC X (your post), then Player C, then NPC Y, then Player D (and if you don't reroll initiative, also Player A and B for their round 2 top of the order action).
This is a bit clunky, but saves you a little time.
More commonly, you'll have folks merge all of the NPCs together. Then you get this case:
12 Player A
11 Player B
09 Player C
07 NPCs X & Y
06 Player D
In the common case, you then have A, B, and C post together, then the NPCs go, then player D (and presumably A, B, and C with their round 2 actions).
The problem is that neither of these systems work great with initiatives that shift around a lot during the course of the turn. For those... good luck?
