RIP Stephen Hawking - A Tragic Loss

This one hits me hard. This man was a hero of mine. It's really sad to see this. I never had the chance to meet him, but he was one of the greatest minds in modern science. He will sorely be missed.

He outlived his diagnosis by decades, though. Truly an amazing man.

Yup. I mean almost every other year came around and I was surprised to see him still kicking around. Congrats on beating the odds and reshaping physics.

As a fun aside check out the epic rap battle of history between him and Albert Einstein :)

A legend of our time. His death is a great loss to not only the scientific community, but the entire world. I sincerely hope they cremate him and send his ashes into space. It would be a fitting tribute to his work and his legacy.

RIP Stephen Hawking - A Tragic Loss

We can't say he didn't love a full life, since he lived 50 years longer than he was supposed to,  but it's still a tragic loss

RIP Stephen Hawking - A Tragic Loss

He passed away on Einstein's birthday. My sister's take on it was "God: 'Hey, Einstein, happy birthday! We got you someone who knows what the heck you're talking about.'"

That's an amazing coincidence. He was born on the anniversary of Galileo's death, and died on the anniversary of Einstein's birth. Even he couldn't have calculated a more fitting lifespan!

If my opinion changes,
The answer is still 42.

Re: RIP Stephen Hawking - A Tragic Loss

I was in London when he died.  The news was everywhere, along with back to back broadcasts about his life and the movie theaters taking a break from the blockbusters to play documentaries about him.
