Old(er) PC game: Arcanum of Steamorks and Magick Obscura

So I need help. I want to master gambling. If you've played this game;
  1. You probably say "why bother?"
    • Because I have OCD and I want at least one character with every single aspect. Gambling has also made me rich in tryingto get mastery. I like it, TBH.

  2. You tell me "You just gamble with him until he offers the mastery"
    • I have gone into debt to him four times, and played probably 500 rolls.

If I need to do it "legit" in all one sitting, then so be it. I'll make another character to master gambling. I'd just like to know if anyone has advice for mastering gambling. I have only one clue, and that is not to stop the conversation to save. Which TBH seems silly if I'm gambling to make money in the first place. xD

That little dwarf refuses to make me master, but I have 150k from him still.

I've scoured the web for any advice, and sadly nothing conclusive to do with the triggers.

Help?

http://arcanum.wikia.com/wiki/Gambling says:
quote:
Master: Gurin Rockhollow at the "Gentleman's Club" in Tarant
The way to be named a gambling master is quite simple, you have to gamble all the gold (5,000) from Gurin's pockets.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/...ick-obscura/43678548 has some advice on beating him.

Edit: Oh, you probably need to get all that gold in one go.

Wish I still had a copy of the game that works. I loved it.

It's one of those games that I played so many times I pretty much mastered a routine that takes me through the first four hours...

Though strangely, I've also never beat it.

In reply to Genghis the Hutt (msg # 2):

Sadly I looked at those FAQs.

Unfortunately he has WAY more than 5,000 gp. Maybe it is the unofficial patch (that let's the mechanical critters work!) but he has no limit of gold. As I said, I made over 150k from him. I've also tried alternating the ante and sticking with one. It's not a matter of beating him. I can do THAT. It's getting him to offer mastery.

Oh well.

My next issue is the tranquilizer gun. For some reason NOTHING is going KO. Maybe I need for firearms. Or maybe I need chemical regent as well as bullets?

I feel like I'm missing something...

I have a belated gift of having been deprived of video games all throughout youth and early adulthood. So I am spoiled by the fact older games are still very new to me. Arcanum was a game I played back in 2007, but didn't have the chance to play it on my own computer until 2015. I really enjoy the fact these games are both cheap and complete.

I really am glad to hear other people enjoyed it. My best friend recently got hooked on it, and it's very relaxing to listen to her play and help her through parts I've gone through.

I too have not beat the game. I enjoy the aspects (tech, magic, skills [and even attributes]) enough that I like to thoroughly explore everything prior to the....I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but when you travel northwest of the big city. Everything up until that point is both enjoyable and rewarding. So I have played up to level 20-30 just in the early parts of the game.

I did, however, learn that too many save files can be a bad thing. So I'm now forced to follow through with the eleven characters before making new ones. *chuckles* I have a couple gunslingers, one of which has quite an arsenal. The other which has quite a mechanical army of medical arachnids and clockwork physicians. Then I have a three magicians, and a couple pure skills characters.

It's a ton of fun. I hope you can find a way to play it again, if you really want to. :)
