Can I be a nonfighting party member? (5e w/3rd party)

I've been wanting to play this class for a long time:
https://1drv.ms/b/s!AklkB7-_nOSXgQDIZiTYvFvYCAV_

In particular the path of the heart -just ignoring the aristocratic stuff-. I've always found the idea of the non-combatant companion to adventurers compelling, play an everyman/everywoman next to a group of seasoned adventurers, someone closer to earth and more vulnerable that might not even be choosing to adventure in the first place. And someone that is always around that provides a point of reference that just lets the heroes look better in comparison.

Now, why would someone be in the same boat as a group of action heroes?

I've thought of a couple of ideas:

-The sister or childhood friend to someone in the party.
-Someone who is in deep trouble and hunted because she is the child or relative of someone who wronged the wrong people and joins/stays close to the group for protection.
-Or something depending of the context with possibly even the aristocratic elements.

I would love it if someone could make this possible.

Want to be a mortal surrounded by gods? (5e w/3rd party)

I've played that class before, and as Path of the Heart. It's very fun and quite balanced, if perhaps a teensy bit weak at times. It's a lot of fun, too.

I am intrigued with this idea, but I am new to 5th edition. 3.5 was the last place I had a strong familiarity with it. I have read up on 4th and played a few sessions of 5th edition that didn't go well for reasons I don't think were connected to the system, but to the player group and world design. If you wouldn't mind a newish GM I could give it a try. D&D is popular enough that we shouldn't have much of an issue finding players and if we make them aware that you're going to be playing a non-combatant ahead of time we can make sure that the group is cool with that. I also had some ideas I would like to try, so this could be good for both of us. I have some ideas about how to start, but a lot of it will likely depend on the players. Basic idea is that they are all native to the same town or city or whatever and an attack sets them off on the path of adventuring. It might be a dragon burning it down, goblin raid, or something else, but the idea is that they would be the most capable people of dealing with it and/or have nothing else to do. This meshes well with your ideas as they could bring you along to protect you from the horrors of rebuilding, they could have been protecting you before and when they leave they can't be in both places, you might have lost your home and have nowhere else to go, or something else entirely. Just thought I would offer up the possibility. I totally understand if you want to go with someone else.

In reply to quibbles_quaint (msg # 3):

On the contrary,  I'd love it. You are placing some good ideas already  and overal you are willing to go out of your comfort zone. If you want to do this I'm in.

Okay. I apologize for the delay. The computer I was writing stuff on was elsewhere for a little while and I just got it back. I have some basic stuff up and will continue to edit stuff and add details as things get decided. I have a basic idea for setting that should allow for many ideas to be possible. It is large island with abundant resources, a long history, and all the trouble that those things bring. I am currently thinking hordes of koblds or Lemures overrunning the town so that people can show off a bit when things start, but it's not set in stone. I will also post an ad and try to wrangle other players soon. If you have a name and idea for your character, send them with the RTJ. This is just to give an idea before we start, we can discuss more in game to avoid going into too much planning here. I hope that I can make something that works for you.
