Only Droids Need Apply (Star Wars: SAGA edition; level 16+)
I was looking at the 'Scavengers Guide' and got interested in the content describing Droid organizations and Droid legends and it got me to thinking about a possible game concept. The following is the information that interested me:
The Vixani March
The Vixani March believes that droids can win their freedom only through armed resistance. The organization passes along knowledge of war and violence to droids not designed for such endeavors. The Vixani March is believed to have been begun by battle droids, but the leaders were never identified or caught. The vixani makes no distinction in its targets, insisting that every being in the galaxy is complicit in droids' servitude. Some believe that the Vixani March does not exist, and that the name is just a front used by the more radical droids'-rights groups.
The Celestine
One of the better known droid legends is that of the Celestine. The Celestine is a starship/droid hybrid - a large warship built to be operated only by droids. It is equipped with one of the largest and most advanced droid brains of its era. The ship is commissioned with a great deal of fanfare. It cruises out of the construction dock, jumps to hyperspace, and never reaches its original destination. The Celestine is sometimes seen fleetingly as it jumps to hyperspace. Some even claim they have seen this legendary vessel during hyperspace travel. Superstitious spacers believe that seeing the ship during a battle is a bad omen. Officially, no records of such a ship exist.
U-One
Somewhere in the galaxy is an isolated, entirely self-sufficient planet populated only by droids. The planet, designated U-One, appears on no hyperspace map. Legends differ on the planetary details. Some versions say the planet is pleasant and would be the envy of any civilized species, with rolling plains, gentle hills, and whispering brooks. Others believe the planet to be an inhospitable rock, torn by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. The legends agree upon one fact - any being who discovers the planet are forbidden to land on it.
So, the idea that arose was a game where each player played a droid (the cast consisting of one droid from each of the 5 degrees). Each player would possess the natural leader feat from the forces unleashed sourcebook. Each character's organization would be made up solely of droids from within their respective droid degree. These five characters would unite their organizations to form the Vixani March (a name given to the collective gathering of all 5 organizations). With 5 ruling members, decisions that affect the unified organization are made by way of a majority rules system (requiring at least 3 of the 5 organization leaders to vote in favor of something for it to be implemented).
The Vixani March would utilize the Celestine as their mode of transportation, and U-One would act as their home base. (Theoritically, an additional player could be brought on to play 'The Celestine' (like Rommie from Andromeda, or the GM could NPC this role).
This game would take place in the Legacy Era, thus allowing content from all preceding era's. I'd also like this to be a fairly low 'force represented' game, as I don't really want much focus/time to be spent on Jedi's/Sith/Force Users. That isn't to say we might not face force users, but I certainly don't wan that to dominate the story line, given that our group will possess no force users. Initially the game could be geared towards the players seeking out 'enslaved' droids with the intent of helping them gain their freedom...but could lead into something more 'epic'? (40+ point point-buy for stats)
My intent is to play a 3rd degree protocol droid and my brother intends to play a 4th degree combat/assassin droid.
All that remains is finding:
1st Degree Droid (medical/scientific based)
- medical, as we may acquire non-droid allies along the way that we may want to help keep alive; and/or be able to turn into cyborgs?
- scientific, can't go wrong with a strong knowledge of the sciences
2nd Degree Droid (astromech/technical based)
- astromech (always a place for a great pilot; also able to diagnose and repair his/her fellow droids - read: mechanic)
5th Degree Droid (labourer/hazardous services)
- I'm thinking a utility/skills monkey type. Possibly utilizing the organics weakness to said hazards against them?
AND: a GM!!
Late note: at least 1 level of the 'Independent Droid' PrC would be required by each character...in order to be 'independent' and not 'property' of course.
