Hello Dungeon Masters of RPoL!
I've been tweaking this post over the last few days, hence why it is long and occasionally tangential. I see RPoL as a chance to play the kinds of games I can't in real life due to various reasons including getting a DM to dedicate a private game just for you like it looks is at least somewhat common here.
The core idea is a half orc/half elf (mechanically Half Elf Urchin Warlock) who grew up an orphan on the streets and wanted to be a wizard. However, she couldn't get into the academy, whether due to lack of funds, being an orc blooded applicant to a predominantly elven school, both, or another reason. Depending on the pact there are a few different ways she became a warlock, whether breaking into the wizard school and reading a book she shouldn't have or the patron seeking her out as a malleable agent, or something else entirely!
Searching for inspiration I found the following picture, which I admit isn't what I initially imagined, but I love it! It is also what she looks like post-pact when she has Prestidigitation to clean herself up, although the jewelry is cheap.

Being a warlock I would like her patron to play a role in the game, directly or indirectly, as opposed to so many games where the patron is all but ignored. I haven't actually settled on an idea for a patron, and would like to discuss and decide that with the DM as we also figure out the world in which she lives. I will say I am partial to the idea of a Great Old One themed Hexblade, but Undying with Vecna as a patron also has its allure ;) I would likely go Tome over Chain or Weapon, no matter the patron.
The game itself I anticipate to be focused around achieving some larger personal goal, in search of power. It could be joining and moving up the ranks of the Thieves Guild, whether for its own power or to use its resources against the wizard academy that spurned her, or any other organisation or faction that exists. Thinking about it, I would like a game focused on a single city or area. Not that she wouldn’t leave from time to time, but it would only be because something internal requires it. That being said, at the opposite end of that spectrum, the game could revolve around her travelling the world/continent in search of ancient artifacts of power or other such on behalf of her patron.
I'm not too fussy on the setting: Faerun, Greyhawk, Nentir Vale, homebrew or simply bare bones setting with places added as we need them. Given the picture, somewhere tropical or an island would be fun, at least to start. I've been having a lot of fun DMing in Waterdeep with Dragonheist and Dungeon of the Mad Mage, so would happily play Dragonheist solo, either straight or with a lot of distractions and as the frame the game hangs on.
I would like to start at level 3 with some kind of faster progression as my investigation of rpol finds comments about it being slow to gain levels/XP in most games.
I can post almost every day and like descriptive posting, I don't want a game where we trade sentences, as some seem to be. I've been playing D&D since 3rd edition, so am old hat (not saying how old!) and DM 5e regularly to have a firm grasp of the rules.
I would like this to be an adult game, more for the possibility of sexual content than graphic violence. However I don't plan this being a sex game, but more around romance and/or seduction depending how things go.
