Faking who edited what

I wonder if it was possible to implement a function that allowed to edit the "edited by ..." message.

Afraid not, being able to edit it would defeat the  whole purpose of it.

I meant that "This message was last edited by the GM at ***, ***."
If I use it on a DMPC, it shows: "This message was last updated by the player at ***, ***."

Yes, that's working as intended.

The idea is that a DMPC should not be identifiable as belonging to the DM at all, it's suppose to just look like another player (so that the DM can conceal a traitor or assassin within a group, and that character will not be revealed as such until he strikes).  So nothing about a DMPC will connect it to the DM.

If the character is flagged as an NPC, then those are identifiable as belonging to the DM.

How does it look if the DM edits a DMPC's post?

As if the "player" had edited it, which is exactly what happened.

My problem is that there is no way to decide wether the "player" or the Dm has edited the post.

I play a game where DM-edits are a normal part of and thus it would be be obvious who is who

Ah, I see chelvo's issue now.  he wants to be able to "logout as the Player" and be able to make a DM edit to the DMPC which would appear as a DM edit.

I can see the use of this.

Re: Faking who edited what

I think a way to make this happen would be to give GMs the ability to change which character they are signing in with. Basically, on the top left, where it lists your character name

Example From This Page:
LonePaladin : • User Preferences

It would replace the name with a drop-down. Anyone with multiple characters (which automatically includes the GM) would be able to select one from the list, and have the page show only that character's options.

For the GM, this could also let them see how a post appears to a character, with hidden elements actually hiding. (This would let them double-check to make sure secret bits don't leak.)

Re: Faking who edited what

The ability to drop GM status has been requested previously, but has been denied on the grounds that a GM is required to be aware of all game content.

As for faking  edits on a GMPC, it is possible with a small work round.  Transfer the character to a player (an absent one if possible), do the edit, switch the character back to the GM.  Edit shows as having been performed by the GM.
