Rise of the Titans (free-form)

Invasion sirens are wailing, Nyx's shroud has been breached, and the entire island is on alert.

A massive storm assaults the island, the storm of the century. Its sudden appearance draws questions. Is someone or something causing the storm? Is the storm somehow linked to the invaders?

While in the past very few beings could cross the threshold of Nyx's barrier without permission, several monstrosities have forced their way through. Is Nyx getting weaker, or is their enemy getting stronger?

The godlings are unaware of the extent of the invasion, the monstrous armies amassing around the island.

The Army of the Gods is mobilizing, marching to face the threats posed by the invading Titanspawn, to defend the many humans under their protection.

With death and destruction looming on the horizon, what can the godlings and the Council of Gods do to prevent the annihilation of Rhodes, the Greek pantheon, and the rest of the world?

Join the fight, and find out.

Rise of the Titans (free-form)

"War...War never changes. Since the dawn of humankind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything: from God[s] to justice to simple, psychotic rage." - Fallout 3

War and men never change, but how men wage war is always changing.

The year is 2017. Earth has been ravaged by war, destruction, and famine for a decade. Few know the cause, and even fewer are attempting to save the world from utter annihilation.

Though it is still unknown to most humans, the gods are real. The Greek, Norse, Egyptian, and many other pantheons are very real. In a world where mythology is actual history...where the gods have long since lost their human followers and their love for humans in general, their religions have lost their purposes.

It has been ten years since Hades, in a fit of rage and naivety, released Typhon and the Titans from their prison in Tartarus, hoping to take the throne of Olympus for himself.

As one would expect, they betrayed him and trapped him in the pit that had been their home for several millennia. This marked the beginning of the second Titanomachy.

With the element of surprise, pent up hatred for the Olympians and an overwhelming amount of power, the Titans scaled Mount Olympus and cast the gods to Earth. Captured in the initial assault, Zeus and Poseidon were tossed into Tartarus alongside Hades.

Forced to walk amongst the humans, the Olympians began to gather their allies - many minor gods of the Greek pantheon. They also enlisted the help of the Norse and Egyptian pantheons in recent time. Though they are not sending their own gods to help the Greeks, they have pledged their demigods to battle.

Throughout the last ten years, the Gods and Titans have warred. The Gods have suffered many casualties. Ares, Artemis, Hephaestus and Athena have perished - lost in some of the earliest clashes of the war itself while only Apollo was lost most recently.

With no God-King to rule them, the surviving Olympians along with the support of the minor gods formed the Council of the Gods.

The council chose Rhodes as their base of operations and began to build their army by summoning their children, the demigods, to the island to prep for future battles.

While the Gods and Titans fight, the parents of the two factions, the primordials, have chosen to stay neutral in most matters regarding the war. Nonetheless, Nyx has shrouded Rhodes from the view of the Titans, however, the Gods knew they could not hide for long.

On June 5th, they were found. Sirens blasted through the air as the island was invaded by Titanspawn.

As a godling of the pantheons, will you join the fight? Will you stave off the Titans for the sake of humanity or will you become a shadow agent for the Titans and betray the world?

The world is being torn apart by very extreme natural disasters. The ice caps are melting, the waters are rising, so on and so forth. Basically, we're treating the release of the Titans as a major surge/advancement in the process of global warming/climate change. The humans on the island of Rhodes are aware of what is going on, but the majority of the humans around the globe are not.

Rise of the Titans (free-form)

As always, we are still accepting demigods; however, we are also accepting assistant storytellers. If you would like to help weave the story for the current players, post a writing sample from a narrator's perspective in the access thread, as well as an introduction for yourself. If you have previous writing samples from other games that you are particularly proud of, feel free to post those as well.

The primary sample should be based in the world we have created for Rise of the Titans - Titans are loose and fighting a shadow war against the Olympians, while natural disasters rage worldwide. The humans on the island of Rhodes are in-the-know, but the majority of the human population does not believe that Gods an Titans exist. This is a contemporary setting, meaning that it is modern times, and any writing sample should reflect as much.
