Just wondering if anyone would be willing to roleplay in Patrick Rothfuss' Temerant. I'd want to GM, but would like for there to be a Co gm so the two of us could also play. Characters would be free to explore as students of the university, or urchins, or nobles, or pretty much anything the diverse setting has to offer. Only thing would be that with remarkable exception no one would be high powered

I think this could be a ton of fun. The magic system is so fun. Is there an adaptation for any existing systems? To the internet!

PM me if you give this a go. I can DM clerical task scenes but will not have the time to create story arcs or major aspects of the game.

Hehe, I admit I birdbrained a bit on the game system  haha, so a clerical task master would be perfect! I'll admit also that my first inclination is free form as I don't know if any game system would be able to capture the feel of it but I could see how it could be vastly beneficial to use a system at least for the magic bits....

After too long digging into google lookin for something already done I found nothing I feel fits the theme.

However I am currently testing fate accelerated and since it is a story driven system more of in what manner you do things than rather than what moves or spells. If you have to played you might make a roll like I try to overcome the test by stealthily cheating or I cunningly out talk the other students to leave us alone.

Hmm... that could work, but the more I think about it the more inclined I would be to want some sort of rules in place for the magic...  while I do love free form for its narrative freedom, I think it might be a bit too much freedom if the players can just 'make so and so binding with such and such rune'... well have an army of taborlins running around, else I fear being far too restrictive as a gm... I'll do a bit of my own digging but if worst comes to worst Ill try my hand at a home brewed system /shrug

Yeah I think a system would be cool and I would look over one if you get it formed.

Maybe just a simple increasing minimum cast roll per day. Say you get x number of cast per tier 3 spells no penalty 4-6 with a -1 7-9 -2 and so on. Larger binding might count for more.

I have also been wanting to check out "Ars Magica" it seems similar in base components.

This sounds super fun! I'd be really curious to see what you come up with in this sort of setting.

For gameplay / rules, you could probably do something with the "powered by the Apocalypse" ruleset. It's pretty versatile, and you can translate the "fail / mix success / full success" rules easily into Rothfuss' magic systems.
