Martial Arts Urban Fantasy

I'm back after a prolonged absence and I'd like to run a game where the players delve into the world of martial arts legend to beat up gangsters, monsters, demons, evil wizards, other martial artists, mutants, robots, whatever.

The game will start off slow, at what I like to call the "karate kid" tier, but as the PCs advance in skill and power they'll be doing slow-mo wire-fu backflips and punching through brick walls.

Think of it as a mix between stuff like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Big Trouble in Little China, Sleeping Dogs, The Last Dragon, Arrow, and Harry Potter (if Harry had nunchucks instead of a wand.)

On the other end of the scale you'll come home from your badass martial arts adventure to a family, a day job, maybe a goldfish. Juxtaposing the real world concerns and the terrifying and bizarre world of adventure is something I'm keen on.

And I'm going to do it all in GURPS.

Wait, no, stop! Where are you going? What's that? GURPS is too complicated? You don't know it and have no desire to learn?

Nah, don't sweat it. I'll keep most of the rules behind the scene if you want. People who don't know the system will get a template with a few options to choose as character creation, and I'll hold your hand along the way. I'll also introduce new game mechanics slowly; sort of like a tutorial mode.

So if you want to learn GURPS, hey. This is an option. And you get to rip out the hearts of vampires and force feed them along the way.

As an aside: I'll be nominating a deputy GM in case I am incapacitated, lose my internet access, or wander off and fall into a hole. The game won't be abandoned if something happens to me.

So: Interest?

I must admit I'd be super interested in that martial arts idea, although I may have to take you up on that behind the scenes/tutorial option ha ha. The only problem is that I may have trouble posting until next week is over...when were you thinking of starting?

You're always welcome in my games no matter when you can start, CaesarCV.

I'm on a mission to learn GURPS in-play better, so I'd be game.  General interest in GURPS right now actually seems pretty high.

Very interested in the world / genre / game-type. Don't own a single GURPS book. Still doable?

This does sound pretty awesome. If you do start up the game, I definitely would want to throw my hat into the ring.
