September 1980. You wake up in a strange place, some kind of massive facility, with no idea how you got there and nobody to ask. Most of the place looks like bleeding edge 1980s technology, but other parts seem old, very old, impossibly old.

While the only people you seem to be able to find are your fellow captives, you're sure that there's something in the darkness, waiting, listening, stalking you...

That's the basic pitch, though I've got a lot to fill out and develop. Players aren't amnesiacs... they just can't remember how they got there. Shades of Cube, anyone?

The PCs might be:

* Average Joes from different walks of life
* Plucky kids (as per Stranger Things/Goonies/etc)
* Some other grouping maybe

without anything obvious connecting them; working out *why* is as big a deal as *how*

Survival is the obvious goal. I'd leave "investigating what happened" as an exercise for inquisitive players; clues will abound, if you bother looking for them.

System:

Not freeform. Homebrew. Black box. I'll ask you a bit about your PC, work up a sheet behind the scenes, keep all the mechanics hidden.

Aiming for 3-5 players, with backups in case of attrition. Thoughts, suggestions, questions?

I think I'll leave character type open to scappy kid, meddling teens, and adults - a seemingly random collective of whatever people want to play.

I'm also looking to set the game sometime between 1982 and 1985. Dungeons and Dragons, Garbage Pail Kids, Michael Jackson, and the Atari 2600 may or may not play prominent roles.

I don't usually go for black box, but this seems neat. I'd be interested in hopping in on this.

I would be interested! Especially with the black box element. The general setup seems wonderful too.

Here's the link.

link to another game

I'll probably wait until Monday to get started. I generally won't accept players until I have a full crew's worth of submissions that works well as a group. (Works well as in interesting dynamic, not necessarily "works well with others).
