West World 2.0 (IC)

After watching last nights show, I had an idea I wanted to develop and brainstorm ideas here before making it into a game.

After the Host uprising, The Delos Corporation realized that new safety protocols needed to be implemented. Instead of sending guests to interact face to face with the hosts, the corporation is using a brand new technology.

The consciousness of the guest is downloaded into a host body. This will ensure that the guest will never physically come in contact with the hosts except through their surrogate bodies. This also allow for a broader range of clients as those previously unable to physically play the game, can now enjoy the setting in a healthy, surrogate body. Once the guest's game is complete, they will be uploaded back into their original body with complete memory of their experiences in the park.

However, even these measures are not infallible. What happens when a guest gets downloaded into the wrong surrogate? What happens when a host is mistakenly uploaded into a guest's body?

Is this a game anyone would be interested in playing? Do you have any thoughts on the setting, storyline, plot or concept? What game system do you recommend for this? I was considering using Fate Accelerated Edition, but I might use Sidewinder Recoiled or another system.

I'd recommend watching Altered Carbon for some additional Friday for the whole consciousness download idea

Interesting plot twist:

West World occurs during the late stages / near perfection of Altered Carbon technology development.

Might be interested in the game, dependent upon system chosen.

Sounds interesting. I'm a little swamped at the moment, but I'd be interested in taking a look once things slow down in a few days.

System-wise, I'd suggest Savage Worlds, since it's gotten a good run both with western and sci-fi settings (and both at the same time!), though Sidewinder would probably do a decent job too. You'd have to count me out if it's FATE, though.

Savage Worlds would be an excellent choice for Westworld, it has both the settings built right in and it works on the same realistically high risk combat unlike many other more hero centrist systems that just don't offer the feel of Westworld very well.
