IC: D&D 5E - when (retired) adventurers attack!
Based on both the old tired yarn of how every barkeep is secretly a 20th level Fighter, and a few books I've read recently, I wanted to see if there might be some interest in the following:
The kingdom was saved. The lich vanquished, the dragon slain, the warlords brought to heel. Days, nay weeks of celebration were held for the legendary group of adventurers who made it all possible! And after? well, with no kingdom in danger, with no evils rearing their heads and demanding a fight, the adventurers were finally able to get to that most glorious of goals: life. A real life. Not one never sleeping in the same spot twice. Not one of constantly changing watches to keep your mates alive. They had a chance to finally settle down to there interests and passions, and simply be. And for nearly two decades, it was...perhaps glorious. Maybe boring? Worthwhile, one hopes. But in any case, they' stepped back and let fate yank along another group of poor bastards.
Until now. Danger hasn't merely reared its ugly had, it's demanded the group reunite so it can spit in their eyes specifically. And if they refuse the call? Then their lives, and those they care about, will be left in ruins. So what are they to do but blow the dust off their weapons, pick the cobwebs from their books, and hope their armor still fits?
Without getting too deep into it, i'd essentially be running with the idea of a mid-level game (around 10th-12th level), reflecting a near-eric level party who's been in retirement for a while, but will (probably) rapidly work their way back towards their earth-shattering former lofty heights in hopes of saving the world one last time.
Is anyone interested?
