IC for Powered by the Apocalypse Game

I am starting a new job but when I get settled in, I'm thinking about starting a Powered by the Apocalypse game. I have the City of Mist books - Noir/dective with gateways to power, Masks books - teen superhero and the Demigods playtest packet - children of the gods. I like all of these settings, so which game do others want to play in most?

I don’t have the others at the moment, but I’m always looking for a good Masks game.

IC for Powered by the Apocalypse Game

I'm in two PbtA-style games right now, and love them. (One "the Ward", one "Spirit of 77") I did a "World Wide Wrestling" game elsewhere, but it kinda flopped before really starting.

They get off-the-blocks quickly and I enjoy that in a game. My budget isn't huge for new games (so if I don't have access to it, I might ask for a 'brief' on the rules), but I've only really seen one or two PBtA games that I DIDN'T like, so far.

IC for Powered by the Apocalypse Game

I was thinking I would set up a notice thread or something where players can reference the basic moves info as needed and when I add players I can put the play book info in their character sheet section so players don't have to have anything to play. Now I just need to figure out which one to run, because as much as I would love to run them all I know I can't keep up with running more than one game right now.

I have been kind of eyeing City of Mist.  How is it in the grand scheme?

My first instinct is to ask "Which ones sing to you?" because that will carry the day.

Second instinct: Pick a game that is thematically or setting-wise unlike the RPoL "Standard". So if it's "Like D&D, but...", I would avoid it. (Not a fan of The Watch, personally.)

I hopped on "Spirit of 77" because it's like nothing else I've seen here, and it just sounded like a good time. I'm doing a Ward campaign because nothing like it's popped up here before that I can tell.

I've seen Monsterhearts, so probably not Monsterhearts.

Deniable looks like it'd kick ass if done just so. The Icelandic saga one... maybe?

Threadbare looks like fun. WWW was neat, but it takes a particular kind of fan, I guess. I've never done a straight-up Apocalypse World game, and if it was done "high octane", I could see it succeeding.

I haven't been able to play the City of Mist yet, but I have read thru most of the book and it is a fascinating setting.

Part of my problem with choosing is I like all three settings that I have, but there are lots of Superhero games so City of Mist or the Demigods might be a better choice.

Lol.  I'll make your task harder and point out you're probably not going to have a problem filling out even Masks.

That doesn't surprise me a whole lot and yeah that really doesn't help me.

I use my power for evil where I can. ;)

Only guiding principle you should follow: run what you love. To paraphrase a classic: "if you run it, they will come."

Absolutely this. Run what you love.

(Though, yes, also, so many people want to play Masks!)
