D&D 5e Spelljammer

I have been waiting for 5e to have enough source material to be able to run a complex multi setting game and now feels like the right time.

Please reply to this thread if you would be interested in playing a 6th level 5e game.

In that reply include your preference of starting setting other than the forgotten realms.

Spelljammer itself.

Not really interested in just giving any particular setting the driveby*, and extremely disinterested in a "and now we bounce over to YYYY setting for several adventures, and then to ZZZ setting, and then to..." using Spelljammer only as a 'means to an ends'.

* Though I'm fine with giving settings a 'Port of call' treatment, as long as we don't have to adventure there over much.

Sounds like fun.  Eberron would probably be my top choice, though sadly I don't remember too much about the non-FR settings any more.  It's been way too long for me.

It has been to long for most, this is why I focus my own energy on non-FR settings.  Eberron is the newest and easiest to implement in 5e but also not as rare.

I'd be interested in giving it a shot. My preference would be Bral in Greyspace.

I like the idea of any setting really.  I was going back through some old info, checking out different settings.  How about Athas (Dark Sun) and/or the Planes (Planescape)?

Spelljammer and Planescape aren't really compatible.

Awww, that's no fun.  Then I withdraw the planes from consideration.  I know that it's technically still FR, but it can always be reskinned to another world:  Al-Qadim.

Not sure that Dark Sun and Spelljammer are all that compatible either, isn't their crystal sphere sealed?

We could start in Krynn or Greyhawk or anything.

Though I agree that starting straight in Spelljammer and not doing a drive-by would be good too.

And I'm so in. I loved Spelljammer back in the 2e days! D&D in SPACE....! :)

In reply to Studynot (msg # 9):

Not sealed, so much as just horrendously distant, even by Flow standards (as I recall, 2nd edition was a while ago). And, of course, the potential defilement from a working Helm under power.

Aw man I would kill to actually play in Al-Qadim 5th Edition. Unless there will be some actual adventuring there, and not just a jumping off point sort of thing, I'd prefer something else.

And yeah Planescape is kind of Planescape and should be played for that. =)

Greyhawk's fine. I personally like FR. Dark Sun is fun and brutal but problematic. Eberron is great. Krynn could be interesting.

No need to withdraw anything from consideration, all of them are at least potentially compatible.

And Al-Quadim is most assuredly not part of the Forgotten Realms, even if it is on Abeir-Toril.

Al-Qadim is a great setting, though I'd have to search hard for my old books if we were crafting characters from there!

I'm definitely interested in a Spelljammer game... but yeah, I'm most interested in Wildspace as a setting, so, uh, Wildspace?

Oh, yeah, I'm interested. I'd really like to see a campaign using the "Shadow of the Spider Moon" setting proposed in Polyhedron #151 (which was on the flip side of Dungeon #92, May 2002). Rather than try to shoehorn spelljamming ships into an existing setting, it assumes spelljamming is normal and gives each of the core races their own homeworld.

Do that, and I'm in.

It looks like Al-Qadim has a lot more support than anything else, so barring significant upheaval in the very near future that is likely where the story will begin.

That said characters from the Shadow of the Spider Moon crystal sphere would be welcome to be part of the game, they just wont start out at home.

EDIT: For those so inclined the game now exists along with its looking for players thread. link to a message in another game
