Litmus Test - Wraith The Oblivion!

Hey folks. I haven't started a game for it yet but I'd like to see if I could get enough players to start up a Wraith game. Any takers?

Well, yes. I've not seen anyone successfully pull of such a game, but I'd be willing to try.

I hadn't decided if it'd be revised or W20.

Wraith is fun as heck. Lots of deep storytelling opportunities. You play as a ghost full of fetters and passions.

No one has been able to successfully run a Wraith game?

Would players be taking on the roles of other characters shadows?

Wr20? Want.

Not as interested in 2nd ed, but still might. (There is no "Revised" Wraith.)

H'okay, so it seems like folks would mostly be interested in WtO20?

possibly. there is no revised wraith as mentioned above, the closest you would get (and it is not that close) would be orpheus. and yes i have been in successful wraith games back in high school. they are very doable. i have access to w20 and some of the 2ed material. however i have only ever been in games where we controlled our own shadows, so i have no experience using the shadow of another player. heck i wouldn't mind a shot at doing Risen.

so i am definitely interested, but i am trying a shotgun approach right now for games here. this is my first time on this site in years. i have time for like one or two games on here. so whatever gets thrown together first will have my attention.

Wraith is such a difficult game and requires such tight communication between players.  I'd definitely want to give it another try, but it needs a lot of session zero.

i think if we play with others controlling our shadows, the GreyGriffin is right. lots of communication early on and extensive session zero stuff.

I've been giving it serious though and might have some good stuff to go on.

Shadow seems difficult to do, for sure.

I would be doing Wr20, if I decide to launch a game as well. So far, leaning into about a 70% chance if anyone still has interest.

I’ve been in a long running W:tO tabletop.  I love it.  Shadow seems like it would be hard.  Not sure if you could put them in as player controlled NPCs or else the Storyteller might have to run them.

My questions run a little more to the practical.  Which Necropolis?  Which Faction?  Time period?
Kind of makes a huge difference.

I’m interested, but all I have access to is the second edition book, so I’d need a briefing on the major changes between editions. I understand if that’s a dealbreaker, but I hope it’s not.

You could bring on a CO-GM to do the shadows of the characters, and also assist with plot and other GM duties.
