IC Blades in the Dark

Not sure how it took me so long to crack the spine on this book, but I've got a deep and abiding love for "Getting the Team Together" and Heist fiction of all kinds. Take that together with the moody atmosphere of the Thief games, and I'm basically in love.

Anyone else feeling like getting together a crew of hungry young thieves and taking on Duskwall one heist at a time?

Sweet! If we can get three other interested individuals, I'd be more than happy to set up and run.

More than happy to join a BitD game. Last one never quite got off the ground.

That'd be my requisite "four hands in the air." Let me get to building some things.

Stand by, crew. We've got some crime to do.

Does BitD use the FATE system, or did they do something a bit different?

It's different.

Inspired by Apocalypse World (but not exactly a "powered by the Apocalypse" game).

I like Powered by the Apocalypse.  I am a little done with Zombies and Apocalypse based games, but the wrestling one was much better than I anticipated (I watched wrestling 15 years ago and thought I would take a look).  I am playing another game that uses PbtA that is a space genre.  I like the fluidity over the fiddly bits of something like DnD or Pathfinder.  Is it a hard nonstarter to this game if you do not have the book?

I shouldn't think so. The headspace of the game is close enough to PbtA that the conversation will feel familiar. But it does have some fiddly bits that I'm absolutely in love with. They have a pretty decent SRD at https://bladesinthedark.com

Give it a look, and you should be fine to RTJ.

Current game is full-up for the nonce, but man am I surprised how many outstanding characters got submitted. I'll definitely have to build another in the near future if this one takes off!
