[Icons SHRPG] Children of the Ultra-Mind
Looking to run an Icons (by Steve Kenson) superhero RPG game where you play a street kid who's been abducted by the Ultra-Mind and given powers. Your character will be built to a template because Ultra-Mind has more or less created you from a production line. This is a bit of an initial railroady concept, admittedly, but it's about discovering who you want to be (not who you were--that's wiped clean).
I'm going to be using a bunch of options that appear in books beyond the core book and initially you'll be pawns of the Ultra-Mind, so as a player it's important to come into the game with a willingness for this conceit and then, when appropriate, take the game into uncharted territory as you all become your own people.
This is not necessarily the Icons world, despite the existence of Ultra-Mind. Your character certainly knows nothing of the world--only what Ultra-Mind has placed there. What the world is, and your place in it, will all be revealed/created as you begin to interact with it.
Character concepts will have to adhere to the conventions presented here. Power levels and allocation of powers are all going to be identical. You choose what the power concept is going to be. You get a power at rank 7, two powers at rank 5, and another power at rank 3. 20 points for your stats, and 5 miscellaneous points to round things out.
This will be an M-rated game. Icons is not hard to understand if you haven't played, but it does use ideas from Fate like Aspects (called Qualities here). Compelling of Qualities is going to be an important part of the game, so again, your willingness to go along with being a Child of the Ultra-Mind is probably the most important element of you joining.
