"Lightly" Edited?

I've noticed that when I go back and edit a post, once in a while the note at the bottom says it was "lightly edited". It doesn't always come up when I expect it, though -- I just went and fixed a formatting error by changing a single letter, and it just called it 'edited'.

Out of curiosity, what's the criteria for light editing?

Tweaking punctuation, I think.

Edit: Ok, maybe not.

Lightly edited means a SINGLE CHARACTER was replaced/edited.  If more than that - it just says edited .

Sorry for double post - so if you see the comment on my post - you see punctuation tweaked - all I did was add a space between "edited" and "."

And, now for the triple post - I originally had "double-post", however; I changed it to "double post".  This was a full character replacement.  but, a single character, with all else in its original position.

Yet another sign of autism in how RPoL is coded. Not intending that as an insult (of course not!), just making an observation.

Nope. The part where I mentioned I only fixed some formatting? That was changing a single character.

In the  end?  it doesn't matter..GMs  can edit posts..if they edit it there is a reason.

players  can only edit their posts, only do so if they make a mistake  or GM asks them to

If..they  eidt it for 'cheating purposes", they aren't going to fool the GM, and should be removed from the game...

the little tag line doesn't matter much.

Seriously, I'm on the spectrum and can recognize a different way of being in the world, even if it's different from my different way. (Excuse the clumsy wording.) Which of course means that two people with the same diagnosis don't always get along.

Not quite to make of the autism comment, but anyway...

Lightly edited is if you modify the spacing, non-alphabetical characters and also change the upper/lower case lettering.

Punctuation tweaked is nearly the same, but only allows a limited set of non-alphabetical characters to be modified as well as case.

There's also "updated" if you don't change any text in the message (change the subject, group etc, or just don't change a thing but update anyway!).

Theoretically there's also an "added to" message, but I think this always comes up as "edited" due to annoying reasons I won't blab on about.

All there to give the GM a rough idea of how much information was changed in a post.

In reply to jase (msg # 11):

Thanks for the response, Jase!

I had always wondered what the requirements were for each type of message, but never bothered to mess around with it. Glad my curiosity can finally be put to rest.
