Re: General talk thread

I have to say that I've had a couple of times when I saw it was my turn and it felt a chore, but those have been offset by times that it was quite fun.

When I got into this, I was hoping for more storytelling than simple world-building.  That is, I prefer my world-building generally to be in the context of a story being told.  Only with this latest bit have we really gotten traction in that direction, and perhaps that is what thebigh is unhappy with.  (Different people like different things!  Who knew?)

So I'm glad to continue.  Let's at least see where this story line goes.

I wonder if this might be better done in the game wiki, where we might have more of a network of information, capturing all the classes in one place, locations in another, etc.  I've just started using the Wiki in the game that I am running.  link to another game  I've moved my NPC's thread, where I capture all the NPCs' names and relationships from a single thread to multiple pages in the wiki.  It has helped immensely with organizing the data.

1. Yay, Zag is willing to continue!

2. UGH, you may have a good point about the game wiki, but I can't bear moving all that information over right now. If YOU are volunteering to do that, that's fine, let me know...

3. So anyway, Big H, shall I remove you from this game storytelling experience?

As a habit, it doesn't scale well.

I'm sure they were listening to the whole thing, and watching on two body cams.

Makes sense, honestly, unless the shuttle jams such things... and why would it?

I'll edit--

Just to be absolutely clear-- the vinesnake is down on the planet, right?

I'm very certain of the answer, but just want to be even more certain.

Re: General talk thread

Right.  In the dome where the Envoy stayed behind.  Remember that we posited that some of the Vinesnakes (the females, I think) have an attack that includes a viral attack that both absorbs and takes over the victim's DNA in some magical ish way that we're not exactly going to define.  As part of the long-term story arc, I was going to say that this is one scientific area where the humans are way ahead of the Akitilans.

Well... sounds like we're gonna have to define what their attack does real soon, right...?

Uh, right? Like... I reckon it'll turn a doomsnake into something with 50% doomsnake intelligence, which isn't a lot, and 50% Akit intelligence, which is quite an improvement, and an Akit-that-looks-a-lot-like-a-doomsnake appearance.

Sound about right...?

Umm, sure.  I hadn't thought it through that thoroughly.  I was just looking for some problem they could have for which the humans could be experts.

Re: General talk thread

This description, "Her father had been a U.S. ambassador to China who had married Annamaria's mother, a Mexican woman, when he was on an earlier post.  Annamaria grew up speaking Spanish, English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, all as native languages," actually describes my daughter's first roommate in high school.  (It was a boarding school for especially talented students.)  I have no idea what she went on to do, but her proficiency with languages was incredible.

Checkin' on ya, buddy. You okay to continue?

Or is 2023 kicking one's tail a little too hard...?

No hard feelings on my part, whatever your answer is...

Re: General talk thread

Hi.  I have to admit that I'm starting to look at this game as a bit of a chore rather than one I'm hoping to see an 'unread' flag on.
With only the two of us, it doesn't have that 'group collaboration' feeling.  If you want to try recruiting more people, I'll hang around, but as it is I'm going to bow out.

I understand what you mean.

For my part, I don't really want to bring someone new into this experience late.

So, let's end this here.

HOWEVER... would you want to start a NEW world (of some type) IF i could find one or more new/extra participants?

Re: General talk thread

I understand your point.  I doubt people would get interested in a universe that is already started.  I suspect, however, that this project is going to be doomed.  RPoL already has an issue with people losing interest and disappearing, and that's when they have a character which they've invested psychic energy in.  Most people are not really as interested in the telling the story part of a game as they think they are, and you'll just get more ghosting.  I think I'm out.
