Hmm, I know the name Sigrun Goll from at least one other game. I would say Kara too, but Kara isn't that uncommon, lol.

I've seen Kara used a 3-4 times over the years here. Guaranteed by at least two different players.

Well met. I'll be your underhanded assassin.. since swashbuckler wasn't on the table. Thankfully it does fit thematically a little, even if the disguise part of assassin isn't much Hrafen's character.

A disguise isn't much of a disguise if you wear it all the time.  Sometimes you need to dress up as the bad guys to get a jump on them.

I haven't used this name before so there is a good chance you are up to at least 3 different players now.

I mean, it wasn't a dig at re-using, it was hopeful. The Kara I knew in another game that died was a Northlands Pathfinder game and we had unfinished business, lol. But no matter!

As I have been asked about this, I figured I'd post it here so that everyone can see the answers. As well as help answer my question.

Mithral does exist.
You can roll for or choose your trinket. And if you don't want a trinket, you can skip it too.
We use the standard languages, though both the "norse" words/names and their English translations are both Common.

And as this is the first 5e game I'm running, what are the bio lines usually used for?

In reply to Dragondog (msg # 9):

Different GMs prefer to use the bio-lines for different things. Some don't use them for anything and let players do what they will with them.

Bio lines are just as unpredictable in 5e games as any other.  I have seen some games use Passive perception, investigation, insight and current AC as the important values, but for many DMs they already have a record of that sort of thing somewhere they are accustomed to so it doesn't matter.

I don't usually mandate that they should be used in any particular way. So feel free to use them as you like.

Playing a bard with a vicious tongue. Still pondering what gear to buy.

What about riding mounts?  Or do we know each other well enough to pool resources for a wagon or boat?

If you know each other or not is up to you. Per default, you do not.

Well the first boat that matters is 3,000gp so that is probably not an option.  I can get a carriage myself, but only mules to pull it.

That reminds me, we are starting in March, and will begin with the Festival of Storms. There's about 30 inches of snow on the ground, but most of the time the temperature this time of year will be fine. However, when I rolled for it, it is colder than normal this year. So for that reason, I'm giving you winter clothing and snowshoes for free. The dice also decided that it will be snowing.

Please let me know how long your characters have been in Skalavik. And if you live here or are visiting.

Per default, I'm assuming that you arrived the day before the Festival of Storms.
