You can gain Inspiration by
roleplaying your character in a way that's true to their personality traits, ideal, bond, or flaw. Or by taking
risks. Either must be combined with a notable action that "drive[s] the story forward, push[es] the adventurers into danger, or makes [me] laugh." I will award Inspiration after your action, that way you do what you want to do instead of going in the direction of the luring Inspiration.
The DMG suggests that everyone should get Inspiration once per session, but as we don't have sessions, we'll see how frequent it will be.
You either have Inspiration or not. Inspiration gives you advantage on a single attack roll, saving throw, or ability check. You can decide to use your Inspiration after you have rolled your first dice. At any time, you can instead give your Inspiration to another player who doesn't have Inspiration. A player who has Inspiration can only use it before I have adjudicated the result of the attack roll, saving throw, or ability check.
