The bane of RP-ing by what is essentially an email system. Every 2 days often enough ?? If players openly state they are too busy, then we can make allowances. Likewise with vacations. I can 'bump' characters along during the interim too. But, not knowing is the major issue here.

Anneth did send me a note several days ago, but nada since.

We can start moving along what appears to be the Eastern passageway while Anneth tags along. I believe Percy made a marching order suggestion, its a matter of how each character wishes to proceed along. Quickly, slowly, average speed ?? How carefully are you looking ... Moving along a wall or the middle of the passage ?? Poking about with a stick or sword ??

Andry tell you he'd be gone a few days too?

Three times a week, every other day, are both a decent speed for most folks. Just because I or someone else posts a few extra times doesn't mean anyone should feel obligated to do the same!

Can you put up a thread so folks can announce when they have rl issues, family, work, vacation and such, when they're leaving, when they'll be back, more or less, because real life can always rear it's ugly head and throw a wrench in the gears.

I try for a post a day, but it often doesn't happen, due to work, and things going on. Weekends tend to be hit or miss for me due to chores, activities, family time, etc and the weather. With spring being here and it getting warmer, we spend less time at home on the weekends, or less time indoors.

So maybe a Monday / Wednesday / Friday posting ?? Weekends optional. Weekends would be when I respond to Friday postings.

MWF generally works for me.  I've got some travel planned for May that will disrupt my posting but I'll note that in the time off as the trip gets closer.  As for unexpected work obligations, I can nearly always post a quick "too busy for a couple of days" note if it happens.

Sounds good Gimrock. I'm looking at a week in the last week of June & July, but can take the laptop & notes with me.

Waiting to see if any other discussion happens.

Anneth make a Wisdom roll: 1D20 < Wisdom.

For some reason, I thought hers was lower than it is!  Still, I feel like I'm putting everyone on a greasy tightrope, making them rely on 'Nettie's ears...

Welcome aboard, Sword!  Are you ready for some Sword & Board?

this is much safer than my idea that I ALMOST pitched, which had to do with makeshift rope bridges

 ...

Look, I scored 13 INT on an ability score test, I'm just PLAYING someone with a higher one!

Anneth = I was thinking of halfling tossing myself. But we don't have one.

Everyone = new character being designed by Sword, yeah, that's his name. He does not have the B/X books.

New to D&D? I didn't know that was possible! I've been playing 43 years, need anything, one of us should be able to help.

I sent you an rmail Sword, it will be highlighted in red at the top of your screen, or blue under private messages here.

Nooby/Sword, welcome to the game and to D&D in general.  It shouldn't be too difficult to find pdfs of the D&D basic and Expert rulebooks if you want to.  I'd long ago given up D&D for Advanced D&D (long ago name change referencing a long ago political and monetary fight among the game designers) but was still able to find pdfs for this game.

Depending on what rpg systems you're used to, you might find that D&D is pretty open ended, relying on the DM to make sense of player actions with very little hard and fast guidance from the rules.  That said, it's easy for a nooby as the DM has a lot of latitude to translate what you want your character to do into what the rules can work with.

Same, same!  A lot of mine, like Anneth, that have showed up in other games, were built around Ability Score rolls.  Or, even Dungeon Master spell selections or secondary skills!

My sister found my B/Ex hard copies at a used book store.  I paid her back with the 5th Edition Core Rulebooks!  The rest of my collection was either found at used book stores, SOMETIMES bought from big box retailers (i.e., Books-A-Million, Barnes & Noble), or conventions/shows coworker runs.  Then, there's the online purchases...
I got my Forgotten Realms book signed by Jeff Grubb!

Real cool dude, too!  He's local to the area I live in.  I gave him a Print-on-Demand from DM's Guild to sign last year, and he seemed VERY distraught at the printing.  I said, "Well, I've gotta be pragmatic..."; I recall he just nodded and signed.  Kate Novak was at the first signing I went to, too!  She loaded my sister's F.R. novels and my Setting book with some ink, along with Mister Grubb.
