How do I post Images?

You can use the code <img src="image url goes here">.

You can also align the image code or put it in a table, etc.!

How do I post Images?

Does anyone have a hosting service that they recommend that's compatible with RPOL?

All of them are "compatible" since what you're doing is posting a link to your hosted image.  That said, I like Photobucket because it has an editing function so I can change the picture dimensions without resorting to Photoshop.

How do I post Images?

I have been using wikidot.com (a free wiki site) to host my pictures,  along with the other public material I use in my game.  Personally, I find it easier to keep text and images in the same place.

How do I post Images?

I've been using tinypic, but lately it hasn't been displaying my images, so I tried imgur, but couldn't get the image to embed correctly in my post... could just be me, but I've been doing this for years here without any problems. What's your imgur code look like?

For Imgur, you need to use the 'get share link' and use the one for 'BBC Code'.

That's weird.  I didn't think pics would show up in these forums.

In reply to Shannara (msg # 9):

If I recall correctly, image links don't work for players in the public forums.  Moderators, however (like yourself), have authorization to do a lot of things that players can't.  *grin*

How do I post Images?

Another variation of this question...

I want to use the image posted in my game as the underlay for another off-site tool which will allow the players to move their tokens around.

The source for the image I want to use from my game is something like this:

http://rpol.net/gameinfo.php?gi=XXXXXX&groupmap=1

That link won't work in the tool, I need a .png, .jpg, etc.

How do I get the filename URL of that image (to import into the tool) to look something like:

http://rpol.net/gameinfo.php/giXXXXX/map1.jpg

???

Thanks.

My guess is that you're going to have to save your image on your own computer, and either host it somewhere else (like Imgur or another hosting site) if you have to have an URL for the image on the tool you're using.

If you have the image posted up on your screen, you could try right clicking on it and select 'Save Image As'.

That is, if you use a PC with windows.

Yeah, I understand the bandwidth concern, but my reasoning is that the image is already hosted on this site. Which also makes it very convenient to update the underlying map image. The tool I'm referring to just takes an underlying image and then allows you to put tokens on it and allows the players to move them around. It's really slick. So I've already posted to imgur in order to make this work, but it would be much more convenient to use an image already posted under my Game Maps anyway.

So yes, I got it to work using a third site, but I'm still interested to discover a way to use my maps I've uploaded here to RPOL.

Can I post the tool URL here?

Yes, you can post a URL here, as long as the tool is free.

And just to point out that you might not be able to get it to work on RPoL.

Yeah, I know I'll just need to post a link as embedding javascript doesn't seem to work on RPOL.

Anyway, the tool is: http://pyromancers.com/rpg-forum-scene-viewer/

But I'm finding that I can't get it to load anything other than the sample image anyway. Seems like this tool is stalled out in development or something. Too bad. There was some potential there.
