I'm in a game where the GM and I are continuing to develop character, background and equipment discussion. At his request he wanted to keep posting in the original RTJ thread.

Right now I can no longer make another post to the thread.

I am still in the game. I logged out of rpol and back in.

The post count for the thread is 50. A rather convenient looking round number. Perhaps there was a decision to limit RTJ threads to that length?

I just did a quick check, and I have an RTJ thread with 60 posts.  I'm sure I've had ones in the hundreds in the past, too.

No game threads have a limit on their length, and that would include RtJ threads.  The nearest would be that when you hit 1000 posts, you can no longer view the whole thread.

And checking the game, there are other RtJ threads there that have almost 100 posts, so definitely not any sort of site limit.

I'd recommend starting a new thread to continue the discussion if it's urgent, since the only person who can fix it (if its some sort of glitch) might not get to it for quite some time.

My RTJ into another game is now at 134.

I looked at the thread referenced yesterday, and at the bottom there was a notice of 'Thread Locked'.

I couldn't figure out why ... or how you lock a PM thread for that matter, but thought it was worth noting here.

That sounds like a system message and action - possibly designed to protect database validity.

Possibly a routine daily script cleared a minor error and freed the thread up again.

I've always wondered... when a thread hits 1K posts, is it viewable with 1k posts per page, or does it drop to whatever the default is for it's maximum viewable per page?

When it reaches 1000, it is only viewable one page at a time, which is 25 posts.
