Emoticons don't work?

It looks like emoticons like 🔪 are auto-translated into text.  Is there a list of approved emoticons?

That was originally https://emojipedia.org/hocho/ and from "Copy and paste this emoji:".

Re: Emoticons don't work?

I've never seen emojis on the site, and that makes me incredibly happy.

Re: Emoticons don't work?

The list of approved emoticons is, basically: none of them.

You may be thinking of HTML codes, which do work: http://www.lookuptables.com/

Edit: If you really need an emoticon in a post, you can always save it somewhere as an image, then put it into the post using <img src="http://www.somesite.com/the-image.jpg"> .

Re: Emoticons don't work?

I was going to use it for a person literally "making their mark" as in signing their name to a document.  I had planned on saying, "Joe drew his mark: <blah>." I could also see it used as a sort of category for items:

emoji1Studded leather25gp
emoji1full plate5,000gp
emoji2sword6cp

Then again, this being the emoji generation, I anticipate that more people will want to use them in the future for other purposes.

Re: Emoticons don't work?

Ok, looks like <img src="https://emojipedia-us.s3.amazonaws.com/thumbs/120/facebook/138/hocho_1f52a.png" height="10px"> works in a game, albeit at a larger size than I'd like.

Is there anything like <img src="https://emojipedia-us.s3.amazonaws.com/thumbs/120/facebook/138/hocho_1f52a.png" style="height:10px;"> that'll force an image to a smaller size?

Re: Emoticons don't work?

No, images are always displayed on RPoL at their original size.

Re: Emoticons don't work?

Certain unicode characters are HTML-friendly enough to show up in posts here, even though they might get transformed into gobbledegook in the editor. I don't think there's a definitive list of characters that work here, so it's a matter of trying things out and seeing if they work.

&#128298; is the html code for the emoji Genghis the Hutt was trying to use.

From my test, every character over 255 is correctly converted to its html code1 when previewing or posting the message. That how Genghis the Hutt got his number. But, everything that convert to an html code over2 100000 are converted an second time: instead of &#100000; it is &amp;#100000; that it is save.

1. For example ΓΏ (255) it is not converted while Ā (256) is.
2. 𘚟 &#100000; (The first one should look like a block with numbers, while the second look like & followed by #100000;)

For a list of symbols that work: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/..._reference/2000-2FFF
