Mis-matching Login Timestamps?

I encountered something I've never seen before this morning, and am rather curious if it's working as intended.

I know that PCs that are under GM-control have staggered log-in timestamps on the Cast List that I can view as a player. I assume this is to obfuscate that they're under GM control, so they don't all automatically show up with a 'Today' every time the GM logs in. I seem to recall a time where they used to do that, but then suddenly started having "off" login times, even for characters that I knew 100% were GM-controlled, so that's my guess at least.

This makes total sense, but...

This morning I encountered a case where the GM logged into a game, but the timestamps that triggered on his screen as a GM didn't match the timestamps that triggered on my screen as a player - even after my logging out and back in and refreshing the page and looking on another device and the whole nine yards. (Full disclosure, the GM is my spouse, which is why I happened to see his Cast List screen.) Mismatching to the point of which there was a GM-controlled PC showing a login timestamp of 'Today' for him, and a login timestamp of '2018' for me.

Is that how it's supposed to work?

It seems like that could defeat the whole purpose of having the staggered timestamps , if what the GM sees as a timestamp doesn't match the 'false' one provided to the playerbase. I imagine it would be pretty awkward to message a GM or have players having an OOC conversation like, 'Hey, what's happened to Bob? I haven't seen him log in for over a year' only to have the GM respond with 'Really? He logged in Today.'

Mis-matching Login Timestamps?

Was the PC in question owned by a player, but being run by the GM in the absence of that player?

Mis-matching Login Timestamps?

No. Just one that was set up as a stealth PC by the GM, always under the ownership/operation of the GM.

Mis-matching Login Timestamps?

I hate to semi-necro a thread, but this is a question related to the same issue regarding GM-controlled PCs and their login timestamps, so I hope it's okay. (And the initial issue is still A Thing, and still no idea if it's Working As Intended, but that's neither here nor there...)

GM-owned PC, not a "borrowed" player character, sends a PM. Their last login time doesn't update. As in, character shows a Last Game Login of weeks ago to the rest of the players, despite sending a PM minutes ago.

Working as intended?
