The Case of the Disappeared Deity

It was raining basilisks and chimeras. Mesmerizing. The unrelenting storm pounded against the panes of your office window in a strangely beguiling way. As you stared through the glass, you fancied the intensity of the rainfall was unlike anything you'd ever seen. Well, good to be inside then, where it's nice and dry.

And secluded. Your office was secluded.

Hidden by magic no one could enter unless they knew how to temporarily dispel the illusion masking your office, and the only way that could happen is if you'd told them how to do it. And that would only happen if they'd made an appointment. Perhaps when the storm passed you would--

What was that? That sound? Your office door creaking open? You spun 'round in your swivel chair and saw a weathered man of some sixty years standing in the doorway, dressed in a simple gray robe, battered sandals on his feet. And perfectly dry.

"I'd like to hire you, detective," he announced.

Your hand had instinctively reached for your sword made from antediluvian steel that rested against the right leg of your desk, a desk crafted from the gnarled roots of an enchanted tree that a cabal of druids once danced around in great merriment.

"For what?" you ask with suspicion.

"To find a friend of mine that's gone missing," he says, with some effort.

Your hand relaxed on the grip. "Care to tell me who this missing friend might be?"

His weight shifted uneasily from one foot to the other. He cleared his throat. "My deity!"

And thus begins The Case of the Disappeared Deity, a fantasy-mystery-and-sometimes-comedy for a solo player in the role of a hard-boiled detective in a world of magic, monsters, and strange gods.

The game will use my version of the BRP d100 system by Chaosium. No experience with the rules is necessary. Everything is explained in the rules thread.
